Salisbury, MD – March 31, 2026
The Clippers used a balanced offensive attack and a dominant pitching finish to secure an 11–3 win over Wicomico Indians on Tuesday afternoon, pulling away with a big middle stretch and never looking back.
Early Frames Set the Tone
The Clippers got on the board early and stayed aggressive on the basepaths from the first inning on. Blake Bunting ignited the lineup at the top, scoring three runs while reaching base consistently, and Bennett built steady pressure as Wicomico struggled to limit extra-base damage. Wicomico showed flashes early, plating two runs in the opening innings, but the Clippers responded quickly, answering with multiple scoring threats and forcing the Indians into long defensive frames.
Middle-Inning Momentum Swing
The game decisively turned in the middle innings as JMB erupted at the plate. Carson Bennett delivered a huge performance, going 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBIs, while Tyler Hunt added a powerful presence with a home run and five total bases. Logan Chatham and Kaden Jacoby-Sample continued the string with timely knocks, and the Clippers capitalized on defensive miscues to stretch the lead to double digits by the sixth inning.
Pitching Slams the Door
On the mound, Bennett relied on a three-arm combination that kept Wicomico’s bats quiet after the early innings. After a brief opening stint, Luca Valenzano steadied the game with three scoreless innings, allowing no hits and striking out five. Drake Trotter closed the door in dominant fashion, tossing two shutout innings with five strikeouts and no walks, ensuring Wicomico never mounted a late comeback.
Wicomico Battles Through Adversity
Despite the loss, Rowan Okerblom provided a bright spot for Wicomico, recording an RBI triple and accounting for half of the Indians’ hits. Mason Townsend also reached base three times and scored once, but Wicomico ultimately couldn’t keep pace with JMB’s sustained pressure. The Indians used multiple arms on the mound, but the Clippers’ patience and power proved too much over seven innings.
Player of the Game
Carson Bennett (Bennett) earned Player of the Game honors with a standout all-around performance. Bennett finished 3-for-4 with two doubles, three RBIs, and two stolen bases, consistently delivering in key moments and setting the tone during the Clippers’ biggest inning
